Indian Bag Designer Chosen to Show in Eco Exhibition

London-based Indian accessories designer, Sonya Kashmiri, was one of seven accessory designers to showcase her work at Esthetica at London Fashion Week.

Esthetica is founded by the British Fashion Council and sponsored by retailer, Monsoon. The exhibition is a stomping ground for top ethical designers to show their work. In order to show, the designs must adhere to at least one of the three principles of fairtrade and ethical practices, organic and recycled materials. Designers are selected based on their ethnical excellence and their designs.

Kashmiri started off as a footwear designer and trained for four years at the famed Cordwainers before completing an MA in accessories at the London College of Fashion. Upon graduation, she designed sneakers fro Acupuncture and Decathlon. She was awarded a scholarship from Girdlers, the guild of bag makers during her MA and has since designed bags that are lined with organic cotton, made with recycled leather and veg tan leather.

This is Kashmiri’s fourth season showing at Esthetica.
