The Japanese & Fantasy
I was just recently introduced to the world of holographic work as being set forth by the Japanese, specifically in the form of Hatsune Miku, a pop star who has neither a real body nor a real voice. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTXO7KGHtjI for a great HD video of her, if you haven’t seen/don’t know what I’m talking about. Whether you like it or not, it’s interesting to watch!
To me, it was very surreal, strange, creepy, fascinating, awesome, and it makes me wonder what is in store for the future. I read also that Japan is making a bid for the World Cup in 2022, and making preparations to have holographic television available for it! The thing about holographic TV versus our current 3D TV that’s rolling out is that with the holographic, it’s already there, and is already 3D, so no need for glasses!!
A friend in Asia recently told me that perhaps the Japanese tend to live in their imagination too much. To me, however, if not for such a strong sense of fantasy and imagination, we wouldn’t have inspiring and tremendous shows like Naruto (personal favorite), and where would the world be from a tech standpoint?
What do all of you think about this?
