It was widely speculated that Tiger Woods’ longtime manager, Mark Steinberg, was leaving IMG to start his own company.
Now, the New York Post is reporting that his longtime sports agent has been fired from IMG, citing sources.
Mark Steinberg was reportedly let go after Teddy Forstmann, who runs the sports agency, declined to renew his contact, which is set to expire June 30.
Steinberg had been with the sports agency since 1992 and began working with the pro golfer six years later.
According to a Post source, Steinberg was “fired for poor performance.” He is said to have been making about $3 million a year but generated only $1 million in review last year.
IMG reportedly wants to keep Woods on its client roster, but Post sources said it’s likely he’ll follow his longtime agent.
