Holiday Shopper? Or Shunner?

Just curious to know how many of you actually participate in the seasonal foolishness of “Black Friday” and “early bird” shopping “deals” just to (hopefully) get a hold of something a few dollars less than the original asking, or retail price.

Don’t get me wrong: I don’t expect much good discernment or lack of materialism on the part of the secular world, but when I see churches actually not only refusing to denounce it, but rather PROMOTING it (and even making money in the process), it makes me wonder when the smiting will begin.

Does anyone here see a good reason to go “scrapping” with people to save a few bucks on a flat screen TV?

What about in Asian cultures? Are there any types of similar occurrences or phenomena?

Please let me hear your thoughts.
