Artist Patty Chang Will Be Shown at Upcoming Guggenheim Exhibition

New York-based performance, film and video artist, Patty Chang, will be one of the featured artists in an upcoming exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum entitled Found in Translation.

The exhibition is the third in a series sponsored by the Deutsche Bank at the Guggenheim. The show is looking at contemporary art dealing with translation, “in both its linguistic and more figurative senses, as a means of understanding the world around us. The works in Found in Translation explore the intersections between past political and cultural figures and contemporary history and fantasy, transposed from one culture to another through written or spoken text”.

Found in Translation will feature multimedia artists who have used their art within the past fifteen years to engage in the political and social realm of the globalized world. Other artists showing include Omer Fast, Lisa Oppenheim and Steve McQueen.

Chang has had solo shows in Madrid, Sweden and New York. In 2003, she served as the resident faculty at the Skowhegen School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine. She currently works and lives in New York.

Found in Translation will run from February 11-May 1, 2011.
