Hawaii’s Michelle Wie took a strong second round at the Women’s British
Hawaii’s Michelle Wie took a strong second round at the Women’s British Open today to make the cut at the LPGA major.
Wie shot a 4-under 68 Friday, carding six birdies and two bogeys. That put her at 2-under for the tournament, including Thursday’s 2-over par.
Wie said she worked on her putting.
“Obviously it’s my second week really using this putter, so just really fooling around with the grip and what feels comfortable. I kind of changed the grip a little bit today, and hopefully this will be the last change that I have to make. But we’ll see tomorrow and the next day, just keep working,” Wie said.
The 2-under put her nine strokes behind the leader.
Playing in the last group of the day, the 22-year-old Masson had seven birdies without a bogey on the Carnoustie Golf Links to move to 11-under 133, one stroke ahead of South Korea’s Inbee Park and Meena Lee.
Park shot a 64 while Lee, who started the second round with a two-stroke lead, closed with two birdies in a 69.
