Vera Wang’s Posh Parkas

Two things come to mind when you think of Vera Wang: wedding gowns and fluid elegance. But for her RTW 2011 Fall collection, we saw a more luxe utilitarian Vera, with fur-lined parkas and skinny wool pants.

Although Wang dressed up the parka, she didn’t stray too far from her design DNA of flowy chiffon dresses and tops, which she juxtaposed with the more functional pieces of her collection.

But this season, we see a more paired down Wang. Gone are the over-the-top tulle pieces adorned with jewelry. In its place is the detailing of pleats, evident in her dresses, which were shown in a variety of lengths and collar choices.

While the bling is gone, the attention to detail and craftsmanship are not. Wang has ensured that the executions of her design, full of painfully precise pleats were constructed without flaw.

As always, Wang’s collection is beautiful and keeps in mind the sensuality of a woman’s body.
