In keeping with her tradition, Michelle Obama wore a Korean American dress designer to the state dinner President Obama hosted for the South Korean President and his wife.
Doo-Ri Chung, a Parsons School of Design grad, found out that Michelle had chosen the draped, jersey dress only as the dinner was getting under way.
“I was out at an event, and I got a phone call. I was just so excited,” Chung said.
Chung and her team had been kept in the dark about whether Michelle would choose the dress.
Other great Korean American designers Michelle Obama probably considered were Richard Chai and the iconic Gemma Kahng. Gemma designed clothes for Madonna and numerous celebrities. You can see a recent video Steven Speliotis did for us with her below:
