Universal Studios Singapore’s grand opening on May 28
Universal Studios Singapore will have its grand opening on May 28, and some Hollywood and Asian celebrities are expected to be in town. The park has 21 rides and shows including the world’s tallest duelling roller coaster, Battlestar Galactica, which resumed operations in February after almost a year of being grounded. The ride was stopped after a failure in one of its seats during routine checks a few weeks after its soft opening in March last year. The theme park has already welcomed more than two million guests since then.
Guests can also look forward to two new movie-themed rides in the future, based on the animated film Madagascar and box-office hit movie Transformers. The grand opening will also showcase some of the park’s biggest resident stars. Dennis Gilbert, Resorts World Sentosa’s Senior Vice President of Attractions, said: “The grand opening celebrations will bring to Singapore a slice of the Hollywood glitz and action, in the same way that Universal Studios Singapore brought Universal’s famous Ride The Movies® experience here.
“On the Grand Opening day, the park will be exuberant with energy, setting the stage for many more exciting times to come in the future.” Michael Silver, President of Global Business Development, Universal Parks & Resorts, said: “Universal Studios theme parks are known throughout the world for extraordinary movie-themed rides and shows and unique experiences that are enjoyed by the entire family. “We are proud to be a part of the official Universal Studios Singapore grand opening ceremonies and welcome Universal Studios Singapore to the growing family of Universal Studios parks and resorts worldwide.”
