Laugh for love
To those who have loved and lost, those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance and to those who have dared to ask “what are you doing Saturday night?” – what are you doing on June 9? “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”, the second longest running off Broadway musical in history hits our local shore on June 9. Presented by MediaCorp VizPro International, this brand new local production on love, dating and marriage blends humour and song parodies that will leave you in stitches.
“The amazing thing about this two-hour show is that it is a roller coaster of emotions, from laughter to tears. Four actors play over 50 characters with many scenes that people will recognise themselves,” said Australian Director Darren Yap, who also directed “Miss Saigon”. Having been translated in 13 languages including Hebrew, Spanish and Japanese, the Singapore take will not lack on local flavour.
“With advice of my wonderful local friends and colleagues of what references and locations are current in Singapore, I adapted these into the script” Yap revealed while also adding, “Yes, expect some Singlish-lah!” Local funny-man Gurmit Singh who was slated for the rom-com had to drop out due to an injury and has been replaced Richard Meek last seen in the Rocky Horror Show playing at London’s West End .
