Asiance: Where were you born and how did you come up with the named “China Yoo”?

China: I was born in Hong Kong but lived my life travelling around the world. The name China Yoo came into me when I started modeling, when I was 18 years old. It was designed based on my ethnicity and I began to love the name 🙂

Asiance: What languages do you speak?

China: I speak fluent English, Mandarin, Fukien and Tagalong, a little of French, Spanish and Thai.

Asiance: What prompted you to focus on modeling?

China: I love being a woman and motivating others to celebrate the beauty of being a woman. When I realized that and the modeling world opened its door to me, I took the opportunity and modeled for amazing people while still keeping my studies and priorities in my head.

Asiance: You have a great portfolio with many different modeling styles, including underwater? What kind of modeling do you enjoy?

China: I don’t really prefer a particular type of modeling per se, but modeling for me is an art of expressing myself for that moment whatever I’m doing. There’s a big difference in trying to have fame and doing something you are passionate about. I always took it as a passion and that made me remain in the industry a long time. I enjoy underwater, ramp, photoshoots, commercials etc… this is one of the best jobs a woman could ever have! 🙂

Asiance: Any tips for women who would like to become models?

China: Set your priorities straight and know yourself before getting into anything in life. Modeling is fun and glamorous but when you start losing your sense of self, you start losing the business as well.

Asiance: You are presently producing for film and video. How did you make that jump and are you enjoying it?

China: I made a huge step with production when I got into commercials. I had always seen them in the background and it made me wonder what they were doing at first in each particular area… So I went into film producing because it was one of the positions that concerns both business and entertainment together. I got into that career and my work feels as if I’m not working at all. I just have fun and enjoy the problems and the success, all at the same time.

Asiance: Where do you see yourself doing in five years?

China: Five years from now, I will be a beautiful wife and a graceful loving mom.

Asiance: Favorite colors?

China: I like yellow, pink, red, white, gold, black, etc.

Asiance: Favorite movie?

China: The Stand, The Notebook, August Rush.

Asiance: What takes up most of your time?

China: Depends on the day. Let’s just say I try to win every day as much as I could in whatever area of my life it concerns.

Asiance: Favorite de-stresser?

China: My de-stresser is clubbing and meeting up with friends. I don’t drink alcohol when I go out. I just let the day’s work pass by me through music, people, friends and meeting more people.

Asiance: Relationship status?

China: I’m single

Asiance: What do you look for in a guy?

China: A guy who knows how to be a guy.
