After two years as an Associate Director in the Office of Public Engagement, Kal Penn <\/strong>is leaving the White House again and going back to his day job in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

Penn announced to Craig Ferguson <\/strong>on Ferguson’s late night chat show on Thursday that he was leaving his position in the White House but hopes to help with President Obama’s re-election campaign. <\/p>\n

The Indo-American actor left Hollywood in 2009 and his role in the TV show, “House”, to work in Washington. He will make his Hollywood return in this season’s “How I Met Your Mother”. He left the White House once before in June 2010 to film “A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas” but returned in November to resume his White House duties. But he told Ferguson he thinks this time he’s leaving politics for good.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Penn first became involved with the Obama campaign in 2007 as a volunteer. He was an advocate of Obama’s presidential campaign in 2007 and 2008 and a member of Obama’s National Arts Policy Committee.<\/p>\n
