It seems a strange way to build up support for traditional Islamic beliefs, but Malaysia\u2019s Obedient Wives Club says it is all right for a husband to have sex with all of his wives at the same time. In some circumstances, it might even be encouraged. \u201cIslamic sex\u201d \u2014 whatever that is \u2014 also appears to be a fresh weapon against Judaism, at least according to a new sex manual published by the group this week called \u201cIslamic Sex: Fighting Jews to Return Islamic Sex to the World.\u201d A pro-polygamy group, the Obedient Wives Club, isn\u2019t a stranger to controversy and previously has embarrassed many mainstream Muslims in this multicultural country with its pronouncements. While polygamy is legal for Muslims, this year the group\u2019s vice president, Rohaya Mohamad, angered women\u2019s rights groups here by advising its members to avoid marital problems by acting like a \u201cfirst-class whore\u201d in bed. \u201cRather than allowing him to sin, a woman must do what she can to ensure her husband\u2019s desires are met,\u201d she told reporters in June.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThat was such an affront to us, that it\u2019s our fault if our husbands stray,\u201d said Akmal Zulkifli of the women\u2019s rights group Sisters In Islam. \u201cIt\u2019s also not an accurate portrayal of Islam in Malaysia. This group is just justifying its own lifestyle choices.\u201d Now the group is stepping up the cringe-factor with its new 115-page book, which it portrays as a self-help category_ide for young brides to satisfy their husbands in bed. In it, the Obedient Wives Club argues that women give their husbands only a fraction of their bodies and offers graphically illustrated tips on how to satisfy their partners. Chapter 8 goes on to explain how sex can become an act of worship.<\/strong> It isn\u2019t entirely clear how Islamic sex helps battle Judaism, however. Leaders of the Obedient Wives Club couldn\u2019t immediately be reached for comment, and some analysts suggest it could be a marketing gimmick in a country where the Palestinian cause resonates.<\/p>\n

An extract on the back cover of the book, photographed in the Berita Harian newspaper, doesn\u2019t reveal many clues, either. It states that Allah has granted man the ability to have simultaneous sex with all his wives,\u201d before going on to describe about how spiritual sex can be more enjoyable and easier to arrange than physical sex. Malaysia\u2019s government might also have cause to be alarmed. The Obedient Wives Club traces its origins to the outlawed Al-Arqaam religious sect that blossomed in the 1980s and 1990s, and a picture of the group\u2019s polygamous leader, Asaari Muhammad, is prominently displayed on the cover of the new sex manual. The Malaysian government banned the group for its allegedly deviant teachings in 1994. Mr. Asaari died last year aged 73, but some analysts point to the Obedient Wives Club as an attempt to propagate his teachings. \u201cI think the Obedient Wives Club has got more to do with what happened in the 1990s than modern Muslim women here today,\u201d Ms. Akmal of Sisters In Islam said.<\/strong><\/p>\n
