YouTube, the world’s largest online video sharing community, launched a localised service for Singapore on Thursday. In conjunction with the launch, YouTube has partnered top Singaporean media companies to allow them to easily distribute content and grow their audiences here.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

These companies include Interactive SG, Valleyarm\/Music Services Asia, World Sport Group, Warner Music Group, Refinery Media and Oak3. YouTube has also signed a licensing agreement with the Composers & Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS) that will allow music artists to earn revenue on YouTube. This revenue will be generated when advertisements are displayed against YouTube partner’s videos.<\/p>\n

Under this agreement, Singaporean authors will now receive payments from their associations when rights holders distribute them.<\/strong> With the localised site, the YouTube Partner Programme will also be open to Singaporean video creators. This allows content creators in Singapore who make original and high-quality videos regularly to become content partners with YouTube and earn money through advertising.<\/p>\n

Content creators can apply for the programme online at www.youtube.com\/creators\/partner.html. The new YouTube Singapore will also allow users to find videos most relevant to Singaporeans. Users can visit the Singapore site by choosing “Singapore” as the location setting at the bottom of the YouTube.com homepage or by going to www.youtube.com.sg<\/strong><\/p>\n
