{"id":10939,"date":"2011-10-29T05:10:24","date_gmt":"2011-10-29T05:10:24","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2025-10-15T11:49:27","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T11:49:27","slug":"indian-film-festival-of-la-welcomes-shah-rukh-khan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=10939","title":{"rendered":"Indian Film Festival of  LA welcomes Shah Rukh Khan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA), Eros International, and Red Chillies Entertainment, hosted Bollywood icon Shahrukh Khan at a special screening of his latest movie RA.One on the eve of its general release in North America.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The invitation-only event was held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater at the prestigious Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, and the packed theater included IFFLA patrons, sponsors, and Hollywood media and entertainment executives.<\/p>\n<p>RA.One, replete with sophisticated special and digital effects never before seen in Bollywood films, is about the travails of a mother and son pursued by a monster who escapes the virtual world of a video game.<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"500\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ii3SSBKOzmM\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>In a rare Los Angeles appearance, Khan, currently the most successful Bollywood superstar and heartthrob of Indians around the globe, was accompanied by the movie\u2019s director Anubhav Sinha, Oscar\u00ae winning sound designer Resul Pookutty, and Red Chillies Entertainment VFX COO Keitan Yadav.<\/strong> They addressed the audience before the screening and participated in a Q&#038;A after.<\/p>\n<p>IFFLA Chairman Arnold Peter who welcomed the guests said that Red Chillies VFX, a division of Red Chillies Entertainment, founded by Khan and his wife, Gauri, \u201cwas making waves both in Bollywood and Hollywood with its fine-cut innovation \u2026 it is really the spirit, the inspiration and the muscle behind today\u2019s film.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Khan acknowledged that at 45, he may be past the age to take on a superhero role but confessed his longtime desire to play one.<\/strong> \u201cThe idea was that if I could muster enough resources, enough talent, the best in the world, then perhaps I would attempt it and Ra.One is a step in that direction.\u201d<br \/>\nIFFLA, the premier Indian film festival in North America, will celebrate its 10th anniversary April 10-15, 2012.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Above picture: IFFLA Chair of the Board Arnold Peter with Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, Director Anubhav Sinha, Sound Designer Resul Pookutty at Eros International and IFFLA&#8217;s screening of RA.ONE at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on October 27th in Beverly Hills, California.
