The 115-page book, called “Islamic Sex: Fighting Jews to Return Islamic Sex to the World,” was published last month in Malaysia and billed as a self-help category_ide for young brides to satisfy their husbands in bed. In it, the Obedient Wives Club argued that most women give their husbands only a fraction of their bodies and only satisfy 10% of their husbands’ sexual needs. It went on to suggest that men who have achieved a certain level of spirituality could have sex simultaneously with multiple wives, wherever they may be, and that “Islamic sex” — which the group says is “pure” and “based on love” — can be a fresh weapon against Judaism, which the group says promotes “free sex” as part of a bid to take over the world.

The book and the club behind it have been denounced by many Malaysians who want to promote their largely moderate country as a leader among progressive Muslim nations. The government reviewed the book and said Thursday it was illegal because of the group’s links to another religious sect that was outlawed in the 1990s known as Al-Arqaam. “The government has banned Al-Arqaam. Any production from Al-Arqam is banned. Therefore this book is banned,” said Mahmood Adam, secretary-general of Malaysia’s Ministry of Home Affairs, in a phone interview Thursday. Fauziah Ariffin, president of the Obedient Wives Club in Malaysia, said in a phone interview after the ban was announced that it didn’t bother her. “We accept the government’s decision,” she said. “We don’t really care. We printed 3,000 copies of the book and it sold like hot fried bananas (a favorite snack among Malaysians). We have had such positive views from those who read the book. So we don’t really care if the government chooses to ban the book.”

If anything, she said, the furor has only served to boost interest in the organization. “We are constantly getting calls from both male and female inquiring about our club, our activities,” she said. “Some have even asked for counseling.” However, “we have not seen an increase in our membership because we are very strict as to whom we accept as our members,” she said. “We have our own ISO,” she added, referring to the sets of rules used by companies and organizations to maintain quality and standards around the world. The Obedient Wives Club is no stranger to controversy and previously has embarrassed many mainstream Muslims in this multicultural country with its pronouncements. While polygamy is legal for Muslims, this year the group’s vice president, Rohaya Mohamad, angered women’s rights groups by advising its members to avoid marital problems by acting like a “first-class whore” in bed. “Rather than allowing him to sin, a woman must do what she can to ensure her husband’s desires are met,” she told reporters in June.

SOURCE

Malaysian authorities have banned a controversial sex category_ide produced by the pro-polygamy Islamic group, the Obedient Wives Club.
