{"id":11095,"date":"2011-11-07T02:11:59","date_gmt":"2011-11-07T02:11:59","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2011-11-07T02:11:59","modified_gmt":"2011-11-07T02:11:59","slug":"6-8-magnitude-quake-hits-Okinawa-no-tsunami-alert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=11095","title":{"rendered":"6.8 magnitude quake hits Okinawa, no tsunami alert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A strong 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck in waters off Okinawa island early morning, but there were no concerns about a tsunami, the US and Japanese agencies said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The quake occurred in the East China Sea, 218 kilometres (136 miles) west of Naha, Okinawa prefecture, the US Geological Survey said. The quake&#8217;s depth was 222 kilometres (138 miles).<\/p>\n<p>There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the quake, which happened at 11:59 am (0259 GMT).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Japan, located at the junction of four tectonic plates, experiences 20 per cent of the strongest quakes recorded on Earth each year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A devastating tsunami on March 11 left about 22,000 people dead or missing and triggered an atomic crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in the northeast of the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There is some serious shifting going on over there!
