In the wake of a massive outcry following police response to the Occupy Oakland encampment, a petition to recall Oakland Mayor Jean Quan may soon be hitting the street.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to a report by the Oakland Tribune, a signature from Clerk LaTonda Simmons is all that is needed for a petition to begin circulating that would push for the recall of Quan as mayor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When asked for comment about the petition, Quan told the Tribune, “It’s so unfair.”<\/p>\n

“I’m the first Asian-American mayor of a major American city,”<\/strong> Quan was quoted as saying in the Tribune, adding that her recall would not come without a fight.<\/p>\n

More than 19,000 signatures would be needed on the petition in order for the recall to qualify for the November 2012 ballot.<\/strong><\/p>\n
