With a wealth of non-profit experience, Toyota assumes the leadership of the 400-member Chamber. The Chamber is one of the largest ethnic chambers in Houston.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI am honored to have the responsibility for managing this organization,\u201d said Toyota. \u201cThe Asian Chamber provides valuable services to business people in Houston. I look forward to expanding and enhancing our services.\u201d<\/p>\n

With more than 20 years working in the non-profit community, Toyota is a seasoned professional with the ability to develop and manage multi-faceted projects and establish priorities.<\/strong> She has strategically revised the role of development at several non-profit organizations that ensured goals were met. She instituted results-oriented management, raised the level of professionalism, cultivated and secured new board members to financially impact current and future funding strategies, and chaired a fundraiser that established an endowment.<\/p>\n

Linda holds a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Houston and a B.S. in Management. She received her Certificate in Non Profit Executive Management from the University of Houston Graduate School of Social Work.<\/p>\n

Her board and volunteer affiliations include Advisory member \u2013 Texas Diversity Council-Gulf Coast Chapter; HISD Asian Advisory Council member; co-chair HISD Asian Career and College Day; HPD community awareness instructor; Mayor\u2019s International Trade and Development Council\u2013Asia\/Australia (first woman to chair); past chair of Leadership Houston (first Asian woman to chair), past chair of Houston Wellness Council; past board member of Association of Fundraising Professionals (VP Diversity and Outreach); and the American Heart Association. She is a board member of the Japanese American Citizens League, Alumni of Leadership America, U.S. Japan Council, Center for Asian Pacific American Women and Center for Houston\u2019s Future. Linda was recognized this year as one of the Top 25 Women of Houston recipients by the Steed Society.
\n<\/strong>
\nSince 1990, the Asian Chamber has the dual purpose of promoting trade between Houston and Asia and to foster economic development in Houston area Asian-American communities.<\/strong> The membership of the Chamber consists of both individuals and companies that are involved or interested in doing business with Houston’s Asian-American communities or trade between Houston and Asian countries, as well as those who service such trade. Its membership is open to all businesses and organizations, regardless of ethnicity.<\/p>\n

The Chamber presents speakers on topics related to Asia and the Asian-American community at meetings.<\/strong> In addition, the chamber provides networking opportunities through events, workshops and participation in trade shows and trade missions. The chamber helps members develop business leads. \u201cWe are excited to have Linda as the President of our Chamber, and believe that her experience and integration in the community will be an added benefit to the continued success of the organization\u201d said Trung Doan, chair of the Chamber.<\/p>\n
