Hong Kong retailer, Goods of Desire (G.O.D.) is poking fun of the Dolce & Gabbana photo-gate debacle with their new store front display. <\/p>\n
Their new window display features a mannequin with an oversized camera and a caption beside it that roughly translates to “Photograph all you want”. <\/p>\n
While the display didn’t explicitly reference the Dolce & Gabbana incident, it’s clearly responding to the controversy that sparked protests from locals over the alleged discrimination prompted by the Italian fashion house’s photography policy, which only allowed Mainland Chinese and foreign customers to photograph in-store. Local Hong Kong shoppers were not extended the same courtesy.<\/p>\n
In a recent interview with WWD<\/a>, G.O.D. co-founder and chief executive Douglas Young said of the demonstrations, “That represents a turning point in psyche of young people,\u201d he said. \u201cThe message that they are sending out, that money is not everything \u2014 that represents a turning point in Hong Kong for the better.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe fact is, in China, they have not reached that stage.
