Lucy Liu stepped into Southland this fourth season, but in many ways it feels like she has always been a part of the team. <\/strong>Officer John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz) transitioning from being a training officer to working with a partner who is, in every way, his equal has been smoother than one might expect, especially considering she comes to him a bit damaged from a recent attack on the job. <\/p>\n

Liu shared with LA TV Insider Examiner that things are actually about to take a turn.<\/strong> Cooper wants to crack her surface and get her to open up, but very soon things about her come to light that create tension between the two instead.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s a lot of layers to the character that they\u2019re creating, and I think that what\u2019s special about her is\u2026she\u2019s not open, and so when she does reveal anything, it\u2019s sort of a slow reveal, and it\u2019s in bits and pieces, and you kind of have to puzzle them together,\u201d Liu said <\/p>\n
