Grace Meng is the youngest Asian-American ever elected to the New York State Legislature, and currently the only Asian-American serving in the entire legislature.<\/strong> A dedicated public interest attorney and a grassroots political activist, Grace\u2019s top priorities are making sure that all children are healthy and are able to receive a quality education, improving the quality of life for senior citizens, and helping small business owners achieve their American dream. As the first-ever Asian-American appointed to hold a Cabinet position in the NYS Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Caucus, she initiated New York State’s first-ever Asian Pacific American Legislative Advocacy Day. Grace is also a member of the NYS Legislative Women’s Caucus.<\/p>\n

The assemblywoman started fundraising March 21 and had pulled in the total by the end of the March 31 reporting cycle for her NY Congressional run, her team reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“While our congressional district is one of the most diverse in the country, it is our shared values and common priorities that define our communities and define us as neighbors,” said Meng, who would be New York’s first Asian-American member of Congress if elected.<\/p>\n

City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley on Monday reported raising more than $100,000 for her bid (although $30K of that was reportedly in “refunded donations” that ended up moving from her council account to her Congressional stash), while state Assemblyman Rory Lancman’s campaign has said he has $200,000 on hand.<\/p>\n
