This year, the festival is proud to present a strong collection of feature-length documentary films, showcasing the non-fiction works from the Asian Pacific Islander community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s slate of non-fiction features reflects a continued policy towards incisive and uncompromising storytelling,\u201d states Abe Ferrer, Director of Programming. \u201cThe world-view articulated in works such as <strong>Yung Chang\u2019s CHINA HEAVYWEIGHT<\/strong>, <strong>Carol Liu\u2019s RESTORING THE LIGHT<\/strong>, and <strong>Sasha Freidlander\u2019s WHERE HEAVEN MEETS HELL<\/strong> complement the more playful yet impactful voices of Festival veteran <strong>Debbie Lum\u2019s SEEKING ASIAN FEMALE<\/strong> and <strong>Kane Diep\u2019s UPLOADED<\/strong> in novel, knowing ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year we\u2019re honored to host the world premieres of \u00a02 great docs,\u201d says David Magdael, Festival Co-Producer. \u201cI am looking forward to <strong>Choi Jin-sung\u2019s I.AM \u2013SM TOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR<\/strong>, a vibrant film that brings the world of K-Pop to the big screen, and <strong>Kane Diep\u2019s UPLOADED: THE ASIAN AMERICAN MOVEMENT<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrer adds, \u201cI\u2019m especially proud of the works being showcased through our friends at Pacific Islanders in Communications. <strong>PAPA MAU: THE WAYFINDER and THERE ONCE WAS AN ISLAND<\/strong> bring to our audience stories that are rarely brought to light, but are an indispensible ingredient of our goal of foregrounding our communities\u2019 perspectives.
