A teenage girl said she was worried she would never see her family again after her father left her stranded on a street corner because she was failing calculus.<\/strong><\/p>\n

47-year-old Tuan Huynh pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child under 18 and was sentenced to two years probation and 100 hours of community service.<\/p>\n

The Pennsylvania man reportedly ordered his 16-year-old daughter to pack some clothes and a blanket and then drove her to the intersection of Cheltenham Avenue and Washington Lane in Cheltenham where he left her without a cellphone to fend for herself.<\/p>\n

“She was devastated. She wandered quite a ways looking for help. Fortunately, she encountered a minister who stayed with her and called police,” said Assistant District Attorney Cara McMenamin, who described the teen as “soft-spoken, extremely serious” and an aspiring classical pianist.<\/p>\n

The girl initially provided police with an alias, but music books she had in her backpack revealed her real name.<\/strong> She later told officers she had been ordered not to tell police who she was.<\/p>\n

“She further stated that she was no longer home because she was not meeting her parent’s expectations, and that there had been many arguments over her failing grades,” wrote Cheltenham Township Police Officer Mark Gindhart in the arrest affidavit.<\/p>\n

The location where she was dropped off was nearly 15 miles from her home in Lower Gwynedd, and was entirely unfamiliar to her. “She was terrified,” said McMenamin. “She’s lucky somebody didn’t grab her and abduct her.”<\/p>\n
