Mark Steinberg, the agent for golfer Tiger Woods, was arrested for driving while intoxicated last night, according to the Ardsley, New York, police department.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Steinberg,<\/strong> who has represented Woods since 1999, was one of 11 people arrested by police from Westchester County, Dobbs Ferry and Ardsley at a sobriety checkpoint off of the New York State Thruway<\/strong>, Sergeant Dave Fisher of the Ardsley Police Department said.<\/p>\n

After smelling alcohol coming from Steinberg\u2019s car, he was issued a field sobriety test, which he failed, Fisher said. Steinberg was then arrested at about 10:30 p.m. New York time.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe did inform us who he was,\u201d Fisher said in a telephone interview. \u201cIt is what it is. He was intoxicated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Steinberg, in an e-mail, said \u201cit\u2019s a medical issue that I was dealing with. It\u2019s not what you think.\u201d<\/strong>

Fisher said Steinberg gave no indication of a medical issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was alcohol related,\u201d Fisher said. \u201cHe submitted to a chemical test to determine alcohol-blood content and he failed that test.\u201d<\/p>\n

Steinberg, 44, was charged with DWI and aggravated DWI because the result of a breathalyzer test was over .18, more than twice the legal limit of .08 in New York state, Fisher said.<\/strong> Steinberg was released without bail after a couple of hours, Fisher said. <\/p>\n

Steinberg manages Tiger and Tiger’s niece Cheyenne!<\/strong><\/p>\n
