He once single-handedly made trench coats fashionable in Hong Kong after appearing as the trench coat-wearing, gun-slinging Brother Mark in “A Better Tomorrow”.<\/p>\n

Hong Kong actor Chow Yun Fat, who plays the ageing warlord Cao Cao in his upcoming film “The Assassins”, <\/strong>has played all sorts of heroic characters in his film career.<\/p>\n

But he recently revealed that he is actually rather henpecked at home, reported Chinese media.<\/p>\n

“In reality, I am just a minor character and everything I do revolves around my wife. She takes care of all the money I earn from my film appearances and invests it. I only get a HK$200 (S$32) allowance each month.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 57-year-old star added that he used to cook for his Singaporean wife, though she does the cooking now as he is busy working on films.<\/p>\n

But even when it comes to his meals, Chow has no say at all.<\/p>\n

“Whether the dishes are expensive or cheap, I don’t know. <\/p>\n

“I only eat, and don’t even have the right to say if it’s good or not,” said Chow, drawing thunderous laughter from the gathered media.<\/p>\n

Helmed by Chinese director Zhao Linshan, “The Assassins” stars Chow, Crystal Liu Yifei, Alec Su and Annie Yi.<\/p>\n

The 130 million-yuan (S$25.5 million) film tells the tale of Cao Cao, a powerful warlord and statesman, who has to fend off assassins and pit his wits against those who plot against him.<\/p>\n
