Thirty-four Chinese fishermen are missing after two boats sank as typhoon Bolaven approached South Korea.
\n<\/strong>
\nThe boats went down in gale-force winds and high waves off the southern South Korean island of Jeju, Yonhap news agency said.<\/p>\n

The state weather agency issued a typhoon warning today for Seoul,<\/strong> the capital of about 10 million people, as the storm moved north.<\/p>\n

Taiwan was also bracing for more bad weather.<\/p>\n

The typhoon brought heavy rain and strong winds to southern and western areas of South Korea<\/strong>, cutting power and bringing down street lights and church spires.
\nSchools shut<\/p>\n

Schools in Jeju were closed or reduced classes and many schools in other provinces were to be closed on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The US and South Korean military called a temporary halt to a large-scale joint military exercise that began last week.<\/p>\n
