This afternoon, Yeohlee Teng, the avant-grade American designer, released 16 designs of her spring 2013 collection in her store. The runway was cut into two sections with models cat walking slowly between sections. This season, Yeohlee\u2019s inspiration comes from architecture. \u201c I can start a piece with anything, math, geometry, people, animal\u2026 architecture caught my attention.\u201d There is a profusion of color, inspired by 50\u2019s architecture and futuristic survival tents in vibrant shades of yellows, oranges and lime with a fluid ocean blue. \u201cMy clothing is like shelter, you find yourself and life and beyond; it\u2019s more than a fabric to put on.\u201d <\/p>\n
For the established and environmental-friendly designer, fashion is not all about style and trends. \u201c Fashion for me is about life style: how we live, what happen to the world\u2026it\u2019s bigger than just trends.\u201d Indeed, the amazing work of the new collection actually includes pieces of leftover from her work before. She believes that saving the leftover is smart and great idea and the same philosophy applies to all her work. \u201cYou have to give real value to what you do. You have to be able to satisfy style and fashion, and be multifunctional.\u201d With her fashion-is-more-to fashion belief, Yeohlee will bring us more creative but not-only-fabric clothing. <\/p>\n
It\u2019s so delightful and refreshing to talk to Yeohlee. She looks nothing like a woman her age. Her perspective of fashion actually sheds light on everything in life.
