{"id":14139,"date":"2012-09-27T04:09:45","date_gmt":"2012-09-27T04:09:45","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2012-09-27T04:09:07","modified_gmt":"2012-09-27T04:09:07","slug":"Chinese-film-has-world-premier-at-Spain-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=14139","title":{"rendered":"Chinese film has world premier at Spain festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Chinese director Emily Tang&#8217;s latest film &#8220;All Apologies&#8221;, about two couples linked by the death of a child, has had its world premiere at Spain&#8217;s San Sebastian film festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The movie is the only film from Asia among the 14 in competition for the festival&#8217;s top prize, the Golden Shell.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It offers a critical look at the great lengths some couples go to have a male child in contemporary China as well as of women&#8217;s often submissive role in Chinese society.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dTQUyjUF-lI\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In China it is very important to have a male child,&#8221; the 42-year-old Tang told reporters at the festival, one of Europe&#8217;s top international film gatherings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The most important thing for the main character is to have a boy. This leads him to try to have a son at any price and way possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The movie is Tang&#8217;s third after &#8220;Conjugation&#8221; released in 2001 and &#8220;Perfect Life&#8221; which came out in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Among the other movies in competition for the Golden Shell prize is &#8220;Capital&#8221;
