Freida Pinto took to the skies above London to help launch the first-ever UN Day of the Girl.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Slumdog Millionaire and Planet of the Apes actress was on the EDF Energy London Eye \u2013 which is hosting an all-female takeover.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Led by Southbank Center and global charity Plan UK, the takeover marks the launch of WOW Girls, a day of activities to help highlight girls\u2019 inequality around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cI grew up in Mumbai and have seen the inequality faced by girls,\u201d says Freida. \u201cI was blessed but millions aren\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey face being pulled out of school, married early and having children before they\u2019re ready – and, in some cases, not being born at all since girls are unfortunately considered to be worthless.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cGirls across the world should have the right to decide their own futures. That\u2019s why on the first-ever UN Day of the Girl, I\u2019m supporting Plan\u2019s call to make girls\u2019 education a priority. Raise your hand if you believe the same.\u201d<\/p>\n
