{"id":14713,"date":"2013-01-06T03:01:26","date_gmt":"2013-01-06T03:01:26","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2013-01-06T23:01:35","modified_gmt":"2013-01-06T23:01:35","slug":"Asian-films-join-Oscar-runners-in-US-producers-nods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=14713","title":{"rendered":"Asian films join Oscar runners in US producers&#8217; nods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bond blockbuster &#8220;Skyfall&#8221; joined already Oscar-tipped films like Steven Spielberg&#8217;s &#8220;Lincoln&#8221; and Iran spy drama <strong>&#8220;Argo&#8221;<\/strong> on the Producers Guild of America best film shortlist, it was announced on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ben Affleck&#8217;s &#8220;Argo&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe width=\"500\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/w918Eh3fij0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Osama bin Laden manhunt movie <strong>&#8220;Zero Dark Thirty&#8221;<\/strong> and Quentin Tarantino&#8217;s brutal western &#8220;Django Unchained&#8221; were also among 10 films nominated by the PGA, whose choices have a history of pointing towards Oscar glory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kathryn Bigelow&#8217;s &#8220;Zero Dark Thirty&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe width=\"500\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cAtWcvCxPhc\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Skyfall&#8221; by director Sam Mendes is the first 007 movie to make it onto the PGA shortlist, putting it alongside a bevy of films that have already gained Oscars buzz as Hollywood&#8217;s annual awards season hots up.<\/p>\n<p>Others nominated for the PGA&#8217;s Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award include musical adaptation &#8220;Les Miserables&#8221; by Tom Hooper and &#8220;Life of Pi&#8221; by Taiwanese-American Ang Lee, both also already Oscar tipped.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ang Lee&#8217;s &#8220;Life of Pi&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe width=\"500\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mZEZ35Fhvuc\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The PGA shortlist also includes Wes Anderson&#8217;s &#8220;Moonrise Kingdom&#8221;, &#8220;Happiness Therapy&#8221; by David O.
