He took his oath of office on June 27.<\/p>\n<p>Tran is a former state and federal prosecutor and serves on the Fairfax Bar Association\u2019s (FBA) Board of Directors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FBA is certain that Judge Tran will be another asset to our already highly praised Circuit Court bench,\u201d said Edward Weiner, president of the FBA.<\/p>\n<p>Tran was born in Vietnam. He immigrated to the Washington area in 1970. He is the son of a South Vietnamese diplomat who lived in Arlington and graduated from Yorktown High School in 1977.<\/p>\n<p><strong>He earned his undergraduate and law degrees from George Washington University.<\/strong><br \/>\n<!--break--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>John Tran, Virginia\u2019s first Asian American judge, ttok the bench in Fairfax County for the first time Friday.
