{"id":15797,"date":"2013-07-13T00:07:14","date_gmt":"2013-07-13T00:07:14","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2013-07-13T01:07:20","modified_gmt":"2013-07-13T01:07:20","slug":"Hundreds-homeless-in-North-Korea-floods-","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=15797","title":{"rendered":"Hundreds homeless in North Korea floods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>North Korea said that two people died and about 760 were left homeless after torrential rains hit the central region of the country this week.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The state-run Korean Central News Agency said that the downpour damaged more than 150 houses and 1,720 acres of farmland, according to a preliminary estimate.<\/p>\n<p>The provinces that were hit the worst by the heavy rains are the three provinces that border with South Korea, including Kangwon province. <strong>Part of Kangwon belongs to South Korea, divided by the demilitarized zone.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>North Korea had reported deaths and damages to houses and land during seasonal monsoon rains in recent years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KCNA said the weather forecast calls for as much as almost 16 inches of rains in some areas for the next three days. <\/strong>On Thursday, it said that more than almost 8 inches of rain had hit dozens of North Korean towns over the previous three days.<\/p>\n<p>Heavy rains also hit South Korea, delaying flights and damaging houses.
