in competition at the Venice Film Festival, will be his last film.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Koju Hoshino announced Miyazaki&#8217;s intention to retire Sunday, but declined to take questions, deferring to a news conference next week in Tokyo. &#8220;He wants to say goodbye to all of you, &#8221; the Studio Ghibli president said.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"500\" height=\"360\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/PhHoCnRg1Yw?hl=en_US&amp;version=3\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/PhHoCnRg1Yw?hl=en_US&amp;version=3\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"500\" height=\"360\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p><strong>Miyazaki was not in Venice for the international premiere.<\/strong> His Italian distributor said he stayed in Japan for the domestic release.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miyazaki, 72, is one of animation&#8217;s most-admired and successful directors.<\/strong> He won an Oscar for &#8220;Spirited Away&#8221; in 2003, and a Golden Lion for lifetime achievement in 2005.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;The Wind Rises,&#8221; Miyazaki&#8217;s 11th feature film,<\/strong> is a fantasy-filled look at the man who designed Japan&#8217;s World War II fighter planes.<br \/>\n<!--break--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oscar-winning director Hayao Miyazaki&#8217;s animation studio says &#8220;The Wind Rises,&#8221;
