The NSA spied on the Internet sexploits of Muslim \u201cradicalizers\u201d \u2013 and hoped to use the information to embarrass and discredit them, classified documents reveal.<\/p>\n
The top-secret papers \u2013 leaked by whistleblower Edward Snowden \u2013 show that the NSA monitored porn proclivities of six targets that the NSA claimed are \u201cexemplars\u201d of how \u201cpersonal vulnerabilities\u201d can be learned through electronic surveillance<\/strong>, and then exploited to undermine the target\u2019s credibility and reputation, according to the Huffington Post, which obtained the documents.<\/p>\n None of the six Muslims are accused of being involved in terror plots,<\/strong> and one is described as a \u201cUS person,\u201d suggesting the target is a US citizen or legal resident.<\/p>\n Members of the Justice Department, DEA, Department of Commerce, and others were sent copies of the document \u2013 dated October 3, 2012 \u2014 from the NSA, according to the Huffington Post.<\/p>\n NSA wanted to use the information to subvert recruiting efforts of alleged radicals by \u201chighlighting the hypocrisy\u201d of the person in question.<\/p>\n The \u2018hypocrisy\u201d included watching \u201c sexually explicit material online\u201d and \u201cusing sexually persuasive language when communicating with inexperienced young girls,\u201d according to the report. \u201cSome of the vulnerabilities, if exposed, would likely call into question a radicalizer\u2019s devotion to the jihadist cause, leading to the degradation or loss of his authority,\u201d the document continued.<\/p>\n According to the documents, the NSA obtained embarrassing, sexually explicit dirt on at least two of the targets.<\/p>\n The secret papers outline each of the six target\u2019s alleged radical actions, along with the target\u2019s personal \u201cvulnerability.\u201d<\/p>\n One of the targets \u2013described as a Middle East-based \u201cwell-known media celebrity\u201d \u2013 argued that the \u201cUS perpetrated the 9\/11 attacks.\u201d His vulnerability, according to NSA intelligence, is that he leads \u201ca glamorous lifestyle.\u201d<\/p>\n Another target, whose alleged stance is that \u201cNon-Muslims are a threat to Islam\u201d is into \u201conline promiscuity\u201d on the side, according to the NSA data.<\/p>\n A third, described as a \u201crespected academic,\u2019\u2019 was targeted for his view that \u201coffensive jihad is justified.\u201d He, too, has a thing for \u201conline promiscuity,\u201d and also \u201cpublishes articles without checking facts,\u201d according to the NSA file.<\/p>\n It is not known if NSA went through with its plans to discredit the Muslims, either publicly or privately.<\/p>\n Source
