{"id":17240,"date":"2014-05-21T01:05:03","date_gmt":"2014-05-21T01:05:03","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2014-05-21T01:05:24","modified_gmt":"2014-05-21T01:05:24","slug":"Lucy-Li-become-youngest-woman-to-qualify-for-US-Open-","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=17240","title":{"rendered":"Lucy Li become youngest woman to qualify for US Open!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>She is such a prodigy!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lucy Li made history Monday<\/strong> as the 11-year-old became the youngest to ever qualify for the U.S. Women&#8217;s Open.<\/p>\n<p>Li earned her way into the event by shooting rounds of 74 and 68 on the par-72 Old Course at Half Moon Bay in a sectional qualifier in California on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>She beat second-place qualifier Kathleen Scavo by seven strokes.<\/p>\n<p>The 11-year-old from Redwood Shores, California, already has a victory at Augusta under her belt, having won her age group in the first annual Drive, Chip and Putt Championship held in April ahead of the Masters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Last year, Li qualified for the match-play portion of the U.S. Women&#8217;s Amateur Public Links Championship but lost in the first round.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Li, however, will not be the youngest player to participate in the U.S. Women&#8217;s Open. Beverly Klass was just 10 when she competed in the event in 1967, prior to the qualification process.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Women&#8217;s Open will be played June 19-22 at Pinehurst.<br \/>\n<!--break--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>She is such a prodigy!
