Yoko Ono has agreed to? pay a feisty Brooklyn designer who accused her of stealing her raunchy fashion designs, according to papers filed in Brooklyn federal court.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite initially seeking to toss the Brooklyn federal court case ?\u2014 trashing it as frivolous, Ono has now agreed to pay Haleh Nematzadeh an undisclosed sum of money to make the copycat case vanish.<\/p>\n

Both sides signed a confidentiality agreement that prohibits them or their lawyers from disclosing the payoff amount or discussing the settlement.<\/p>\n

Nematzadeh claimed in her 2013 civil suit that Ono blatantly ripped off several of her unusual fashion concepts \u2013 including placing handprints over the crotch and bosom regions.<\/p>\n

The Bushwick fashionista said she met with photographers for Ono\u2019s design company, Opening Ceremony, in 2012 when they were considering her fashions for use in their catalogue.<\/p>\n

But Nematzadeh said they abruptly cut her off and then used her \u201cworks of art\u201d for Ono\u2019s wacky menswear collection,<\/p>\n

Her attorneys initially blasted Nematzadeh\u2019s case, saying \u201cPlaintiffs do not own the exclusive rights to a handprint on the crotch.\u201d<\/p>\n

They also said that handprint designs are as old as humanity itself. \u201cHandprint patterns can be traced back to the earliest cave paintings,\u201d they wrote in a court filing.<\/p>\n

Ono even claimed that she drew inspiration for the the line from her late husband, Beatle icon John Lennon.<\/p>\n

Nematzadeh\u2019s attorney, Aymen Aboushi, did not comment on the case.<\/p>\n

Haleh Nematzadeh was born in Tehran, Iran and raised in New York.<\/strong> She graduated from FIT with an emphasis in knitwear. She worked as a designer in the contemporary market and designed custom garments for Patricia Field. Haleh Nematzadeh launched her namesake collection in 2008. Her work has been featured in Elle, Vogue, Paper Magazine, WWD, Italian Vogue, and worn by Rita Ora, NERVO, and Gwen Stefani among many others.<\/p>\n
