of Indian diplomat wins $225,000 over wrongful arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The daughter of an Indian diplomat has scored a $225,000 settlement from the Big Apple over her wrongful 2011 arrest on cyberbullying charges.<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nThe settlement agreement, OK\u2019d by Manhattan federal Judge John Koetl this week, also praises Krittika Biswas for being an honor student while at John Bowne HS in Queens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have vindicated Krittika\u2019s honor, Indian Diplomats\u2019 honor, and India\u2019s honor in the US,\u201d her lawyer, Ravi Batra, said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Biswas, now 21, was suspended, arrested and forced to spend a day in jail during her senior year in February 2011, after being accused of sending profane and threatening e-mails to her teachers.<\/strong> Her charges were dropped after a male classmate was fingered as the real culprit.<\/p>\n<p>She had sought $1.5 million in her 2012 suit against the city and school officials while alleging the investigation leading to her arrest was a \u201csham,\u201d and lacking any real evidence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Biswas initially demanded a key to the city after being arrested but never included the request in her suit.<\/strong> Her lawyer at the time had said getting a key to the city from then-Mayor Bloomberg could make it clear \u201cthat diplomats are welcome in New York.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The details of the settlement were ironed out by Mayor de Blasio\u2019s administration.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Biswas has since moved back to India.<\/strong> She is the daughter of Debashish Biswas, who was vice counsel at the Consulate General of India in Manhattan at the time of her arrest.<\/p>\n<p><em>Source AP<\/em><br
