\nAs the holiday season officially kicks off this week, we rounded up the must-have tips to surviving that extra quality time spent with your family.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1) Wear your least intimidating heels. <\/strong>There’s no need to startle your relatives with shoes that make you almost a foot taller. <\/p>\n

2) Avoid controversial dinner topics such as politics or your opinion on the Chanel Spring 2015 feminist rally.<\/strong>
\nImpossible to do in my family! \ud83d\ude41<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

3) Stage a Pretty Woman-worthy make-under of that family member who loves to wear a mini and crop top to family affairs. <\/strong>It is the season of giving, after all.<\/p>\n

4) Spare the details about which designer you’re wearing. Sometimes, parents just can’t understand the need for $2,000 Gucci boots.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

5) Wear sharp jewelry to avoid getting stuck with baby duty.<\/strong> Sure, your cousin’s baby is cute, but do you really want to risk getting spit up on your new Rag & Bone sweater? A spiky cuff will allow you to admire from afar. <\/p>\n

6) Avoid mentioning you’re gluten-free.<\/strong> Your grandma will be heartbroken when she finds out her homemade stuffing doesn’t fit into your diet\u2014soften the blow by stocking up on extra turkey.

7) Have a fashion documentary marathon with the fam.<\/strong> Netflix binge-watching is the best way to bond, especially when reminding your family there’s more to your job than just shopping. <\/p>\n

8) Skip your head-to-toe black outfit. <\/strong>It might make a chic statement on the streets of New York, but your family might worry and find you a therapist for Christmas. <\/p>\n

9) Pretend to fall asleep when your cousins announce they’re headed to the mall at 11 pm on Thursday.<\/strong> There’s no need to deal with Black Friday crowds when you have Cyber Monday.
\nI actually have crazy relatives who camp out in front of Best Buy on Thanksgiving Eve so that they get the best items on Black Friday! I have actually been recruited to deliver coffee to their stakeout! \ud83d\ude41<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

10) Binge on at-home spa treatments: bring out the face mask, Vaseline and mittens. <\/strong> Your mom won’t be able to say no.
\nMy mother thinks that I am a product junkie and very high maintenance=she is not thrilled with all of the products I have! \ud83d\ude41<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

11) When all else fails, seek shelter on your iPhone.<\/strong> Scrolling through your Instagram feed can offer a great therapeutic escape.
