Manny Pacquiao is looking to make history next month, as he attempts to become the first boxer to defeat Floyd Mayweather when the welterweights meet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. <\/strong>Mayweather has maintained a perfect record by being the best defensive fighter in the sport, but PacMan might have a better chance than any of his previous opponents to land clean shots.
\nMayweather\u2019s defense has been unmatched over his career. He\u2019s arguably never suffered a legitimate knockdown, and has gone 47-0 despite not being a knockout specialist. The 38-year-old has won seven of his last eight fights by decision, and his one knockout came against Victor Ortiz with what some have deemed a sucker punch.<\/p>\n

Pacquiao is a decided underdog, but several experts are giving him a chance to pull off the upset. While Mayweather is better than anyone at avoiding being hit, Pacquiao\u2019s offensive skillset could give his opponent some trouble.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Mayweather] has never really been tested,\u201d Mike Tyson told reporters in mid-March. \u201cWhatever happens in this fight, I really think that Floyd is going to be hit and hurt more than he has ever been before. We\u2019re going to see how tough he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

It won\u2019t be easy for Pacquiao to hit Mayweather. There\u2019s a reason he\u2019s never lost, and he’s dominated most of his fights. But there should be opportunities for Pacquiao to land solid punches on the elusive Mayweather.
\nWhile Mayweather\u2019s defensive prowess makes him the best boxer in the world, his commitment to defense could work against him at times. According to boxing trainer and ESPN commentator Teddy Atlas, Mayweather has a tendency to focus too much on defense, which can allow Pacquiao to connect with him.
\n\u201cPacquiao can match him just about with hand speed. Pacquiao is a busier fighter,\u201d Atlas said on ESPN. \u201cFloyd doesn\u2019t throw a lot. He throws what counts. So understand that. Pacquiao will have opportunities when Floyd is into his defensive mode a little bit too much. That will give opportunities for Pacquiao to outhustle him, just outwork him and grab parts of rounds. And maybe steal rounds.\u201d<\/p>\n

New Facebook Page<\/strong>
\nThe multi-faceted Filipino sports icon’s involvement in so many fields has somehow blurred lines separating his different personas. <\/p>\n

Yesterday, with the help of friends who have been with him since the days when he was still an unknown boxer, Pacquiao, fondly called the Pacman by his fans, launched a Facebook page which would clearly define him as a political leader. <\/p>\n

Barely a day after it was posted, the Facebook page MannyoftheMasses, immediately gained almost 1,000 “Likes” and attracted half a million readers. <\/p>\n

An article which introduced the page said: <\/p>\n

“2016 will mark the sixth year of Congressman Manny Pacquiao’s involvement in the field of politics. <\/p>\n

“As the only active athlete to become a member of Congress, the first five years of Cong. Pacquiao were marked by periods where he had to take a leave from his duties as representative of the lone district of Saranggani to prepare for big sports events which undeniably brought honor to the country. <\/p>\n

“His five year stint as Congressman, however, was marked by his faithful adherence to his mission to serve his people and to stand by his firm belief in the sanctity of life and compassion for the poor. <\/p>\n

“With his boxing career facing an inevitable end within the next few years, Manny Pacquiao, the street kid who defied the odds and overcame poverty to become the world’s only 8-division boxing world champion, looks at the vast political horizon and starts to lay out his plans for a career of service to the masses. <\/p>\n

Top Rank’s Lucia McKelvey secured this new and fun deal with Butterfinger and PACQUIAO. “Butterfinger and Pacquiao go together like peanut butter and chocolate. I cannot reveal the details but I assure you it was a square deal.\u201d said McKelvey<\/p>\n
