{"id":18373,"date":"2015-04-06T18:04:53","date_gmt":"2015-04-06T18:04:53","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2015-04-06T18:04:53","modified_gmt":"2015-04-06T18:04:53","slug":"Michelle-Kwan-to-give-commencement-address-at-Salve-Regina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=18373","title":{"rendered":"Michelle Kwan to give commencement address at Salve Regina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan will present this year&#8217;s commencement address at Salve Regina University.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The school announced Monday that Kwan will also receive an honorary doctorate in humane letters at the May 17 commencement.<\/p>\n<p>The award-winning figure skater and Rhode Island resident was recently nominated by Gov. Gina Raimondo to serve on the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.<\/p>\n<p>University President Sister Jane Gerety says Kwan was chosen because of her work as a public diplomacy envoy with the State Department and her work on the board of directors for Special Olympics International.<\/p>\n<p>Kwan is a five-time World Figure Skating champion and nine-time U.S. Figure Skating champion.
