{"id":19218,"date":"2011-12-19T17:12:32","date_gmt":"2011-12-19T17:12:32","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2011-12-19T17:12:32","modified_gmt":"2011-12-19T17:12:32","slug":"chick-fil-a-cashier-fired-for-mocking-asians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=19218","title":{"rendered":"Chick-fil-A cashier fired for mocking Asians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A cashier at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Irvine has been fired for allegedly mocking Asian-American customers.<\/p>\n<p>A photo posted on Kelvin Lee&#8217;s Tumblr page shows two ordinary restaurant receipts. But in the customer identification line, one receipt says &#8220;Ching&#8221; and the other receipt says &#8220;Chong.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pictures of those receipts have gone viral on the Internet.<\/p>\n<p>Lee says two of his Asian-American friends ordered meals at the restaurant and received the receipts showing the derogatory names.<\/p>\n<p>Chick-fil-A admits the incident happened and has fired the worker who used the false names.<\/p>\n<p>In a written statement, a representative for the fast-food chain says Chick-fil-A&#8217;s reputation should not be tarnished because of the woman&#8217;s actions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The individual clearly violated our operating standards,&#8221; the statement reads. &#8220;The matter was addressed and discussed immediately with the guests on the spot; and a confirmation was provided that the employee was immediately dismissed for the individual behavior.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t hear that happening very often, but as an Asian I wouldn&#8217;t like it if someone called me Ching or Chong,&#8221; said Shirley Kim of Santa Ana. <\/p>\n<p><object id=\"otvPlayer\" width=\"400\" height=\"268\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/cdn.abclocal.go.com\/static\/flash\/embeddedPlayer\/swf\/otvEmLoader.swf?version=&#038;station=kabc&#038;section=&#038;mediaId=8466099&#038;cdnRoot=http:\/\/cdn.abclocal.go.com&#038;webRoot=http:\/\/abclocal.go.com&#038;configPath=\/util\/&#038;site=\" ><\/param><param name=\"allowScriptAccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><param name=\"allowNetworking\" value=\"all\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><embed id=\"otvPlayer\" width=\"400\" height=\"268\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\"\tallowscriptaccess=\"always\" allownetworking=\"all\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"\tsrc=\"http:\/\/cdn.abclocal.go.com\/static\/flash\/embeddedPlayer\/swf\/otvEmLoader.swf?version=&#038;station=kabc&#038;section=&#038;mediaId=8466099&#038;cdnRoot=http:\/\/cdn.abclocal.go.com&#038;webRoot=http:\/\/abclocal.go.com&#038;configPath=\/util\/&#038;site=\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/abclocal.go.com\/kabc\/story?section=news\/local\/orange_county&#038;id=8466094<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A cashier at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Irvine has been fired for allegedly mocking Asian-American customers.
