\u201cTrishna,\u201d starring Freida Pinto, and Shekhar Kapur’s documentary \u201cBollywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told,\u201d are among the India-themed films chosen for this year’s Hawaii International Film Festival. <\/p>\n
The festival’s Spring Showcase is now in its 15th year and takes place from April 13-19. Films screening during the Spring Showcase also include \u201cAgent Vinod\u201d and \u201cEk Main Aur Ekk Tu.\u201d <\/p>\n
Michael Winterbottom’s \u201cTrishna\u201d is an Indian retelling of \u201cTess of the d’Urbervilles.\u201d Taking place in contemporary Rajasthan, the tragic love story depicts a sheltered Indian village girl who falls in love with a spoiled, young British businessman when she goes to work for his father’s hotel business. It stars Pinto with British Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed of \u201cFour Lions.\u201d<\/p>\n
