Trance opens in the United States on April 5, 2013.

1. What was it like seeing so many fans show up to see your conversation with New York Times columnist David Carr?
It’s always amazing. It’s always worth remembering how people love talking about the process [of making a film].

2. What do you think about the new culture that is developing around filmmaking and social?
It’s great. I love seeing how connected everyone is here and how they are coming together using technology to connect and work together. I wish we had more of that in Britain. I see my friends from Britain here connecting and interacting on a level they don’t in England.

3. How has technology changed the way you make films?
When we did 28 Days Later, that was actually the first mainstream film that was ever shot in digital and we’re very proud of that fact.

We used the Canon 5D for 127 Hours and for Trance, and the cameras are just great.

It’s a bit sad to see the death of celluloid, but at the same time the whole industry has moved to digital and it’s a whole new world.

4. When do you think we’ll be able to shoot full movies on a cell phone in good quality?
I think we’re very, very close. The power of the computers inside your smartphone is incredible and can do tremendous things. It really just depends on what you’re shooting.

I’ve been a bit surprised that we haven’t seen more comedies get shot on [more consumer oriented cameras and DSLRs] because they don’t really need the high production values that an action film might entail. Yet we’re seeing action films and thrillers already shoot on these types of cameras.

5. What do you think about the advent of digital distribution?
I’m from a totally different generation so I can’t speak to that or take any ownership of that. I’m very fortunate because I work with an indie studio — Fox Searchlight in the U.S. and Path?© in Britain.

I can watch from afar and see how things are changing and it’s fascinating. It’s got to be a good thing because anything that makes filmmaking less exclusive and more available to everyone is a good thing.

6. What Would You Think of a Trainspotting / Slumdog Millionaire mashup?
That would be great! It’s obvious that people in the future, people are going to take movies and re-edit them and shuffle them themselves, the same way with music. And who knows where that will go.

Boyle was at SXSW showing off a preview of his next film, Trance a film about an art auctioneer who

[2124,1,1003
2004,2125
post-20047","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-interviews","category-news","category-tv-film","tag-art","tag-interview
"1536x1536":"https://asiancemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/videos-img-5.jpg","2048x2048":"https://asiancemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/videos-img-5.jpg
"colormag-elementor-block-extra-large-thumbnail":"https://asiancemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/videos-img-5.jpg
https://asiancemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/videos-img-5.jpg
https://asiancemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/videos-img-5.jpg","colormag-elementor-grid-medium-large-thumbnail":"https://asiancemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/videos-img-5.jpg
Admin
https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/53e6cdc30765aade0129f85e5aeb50124b1d3f5bb9a70373be31e4eb328371e0?s=96&d=mm&r=g
["Interviews","News","TV & Film
["https://asiancemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/videos-img-5.jpg",0,0,false
https://asiancemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/videos-img-5.jpg",1,1,false
https://asiancemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/videos-img-5.jpg",1,1,false
https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/53e6cdc30765aade0129f85e5aeb50124b1d3f5bb9a70373be31e4eb328371e0?s=96&d=mm&r=g
Interviews News TV & Film
["GET
