Filipino Americans are being urged to participate in the \u201cPeople’s Climate March\u201d on September 21 in NYC, reports The FilAm. Organizers of the rally bill it as the \u201clargest climate march in history,\u201d coinciding with the convening of world leaders in the city for a UN summit on climate change this month.<\/p>\n
As the November 8 anniversary of Typhoon Haiyan\/Yolanda \u2013 which devastated the Philippines and other parts of Southeast Asia \u2013 approaches, Filipino participation would take on particular meaning.<\/p>\n
\u201cFilipino-Americans have a responsibility to respond to this historic moment,\u201d said preservationist architect Roz Li, who is campaigning for Filipino participation in the march. \u201cBy having a large presence, we are exercising our power to move our leaders to do the right thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
