A recent report placed UCF among the top 10 universities awarding degrees to minority students in America.<\/p>\n
The school ranked No. 8 nationally in 2012-13 for awarding degrees to African-American and Hispanic students, No. 22 for Native Americans and No. 39 for Asian-Americans, according to a report by Diverse: Issues of Higher Education magazine. The school ranked No. 12 total out of the 100 universities featured in the report.<\/p>\n
“Becoming more inclusive and diverse is one of our long-standing goals at UCF because different lived experiences enhance excellence in everything we do,” said Dale Whittaker, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. “The value of diversity is that it results in a richer educational experience for everyone.”<\/p>\n
In total, UCF awarded 3,616 degrees to students of minority descent in 2012-13. According to Forbes, of the 59,601 students in the 2013 school year, 38 percent were of minority descent.<\/p>\n
