“It's getting late,” he said. “Shouldn't you be going to bed?”<\/span><\/p>\n

As if on cue, I let out a yawn. I tried stifling it to despairing failure. “I guess,” I conceded. “My cell phone battery's running out as well. I think it needs to go to sleep as well.”<\/span><\/p>\n

He laughed lightly. “All right then, Princess,” he said. “Have yourself a good night's sleep. I'll call you again tomorrow.”<\/span><\/p>\n

In bed, I shifted my body to the right as my left side has completely lost feeling.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Okay, Mr Stingy Smiles,” I retorted.<\/span><\/p>\n

I heard him smile over the phone.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Why do you insist that you never smile?” I asked curiously.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I don't know,” he replied. “I was never really the smiling type.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“So you mean to tell me that during this whole conversation we had, you never smiled once?”<\/span><\/p>\n

Sweet bejeezus<\/span>! My sides almost split open from laughing so hard over the past couple of hours.<\/span><\/p>\n

“A few times — ” he answered.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Hey, not a bad start, right?”<\/span><\/p>\n

“A few times I may have stopped smiling.”<\/span><\/p>\n
