Milia(whiteheads) look like small grains of sand under the skin.]

Acne: is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the skin, usually related to hormonal changes and overactive sebaceous glands during adolescence.]

When you have extra oily skin (sebaceous oil; natural oil coming through pours ), it is easy to clog your hair follicles with dirt and extra oils which can cause a chronic inflammatory disorder (growth of bacteria) on the skin.

The best thing for you is to go to a professional exthetician or dermatologist and get advice from them.
However, here is my advice for your future oily-free skin.

Use a killing bacteria soap and lotion like “DERMALOGICA ACNE TREATMENT” and other acne products (please refer the answers of June issue).

Wash your face every time you get sweaty to avoid clogging your hair follicles by dirt.

Eat a lot of vegetable and fruits, and avoid junk food (chips/oily food, frozen food, microwave food). Have a well-balanced diet with supplements.

Avoid too much stress and get plenty of sleep.

Eyeliner

Dear Motoko,
Right now I can only line my eyes at the outer corners because if I line the entire top or bottom lids. I end up with liner on my lids or migrating down my cheek! When I open my eyes, part of my lid touches my lashline. I’ve tried using powder on top of my liner and/or liquid liner, but nothing helps. Have you got any suggestions?
Grace Kutney

Asian eye makeup

Hi Grace,
Well, I have the same problem on my face, too. Especially on my upper eye lid, I get a black smudging line within 2,3 hours after make-up.

I usually rub & erase it with my middle finger, or else I ignore it — but when it comes under the eyes, (migrating toward cheek), it doesn’t look good!

It sounds like the shape of your eyes may not be suited to have a line on the bottom; however, please try to use the following products:

Chanel: Professional eyeliner (pallet type) Black/Navy
Shu Uemura: Water-proof liquid eyeliner pen
Cle de peau (Shiseido) : Eyeliner pencil (this is a hard pencil but it tends to be less-smudge)

Sana(Japanese Company) : MAIKO-han-no Eyeliner (www.sana.co.jp) (Fude-pen type)
Palladio: Liquid eyeliner (you can get this at some beauty-shop)

After you apply the liner, please try not to blink your eyes soon and dry the liner with a hand fan. Also, it’s better to use a liquid liner instead of a pencil eye-liner.

I usually use “Chanel eyeliner” using water (just like a chinese ink type) and MAIKO-han-no eyeliner together.
MAIKO-han-no Eyeliner is only sold in Japan. You may be able to find it at a Japanese store in Los Angeles, NY and NJ.
Please try to check a website. Also, Korean cosmetic companies have a good eyeliner for asian eyes; therefore, please check Korean stores, too.

Leave your makeup questions for Motoko below and she’ll gladly answer each and every one.
