Roopal Patel is the Senior Women’s Fashion Director at Bergdorf Goodman. She was also a panelist at the South Asian Women’s Leadership Forum (SAWLF) this weekend. Ms. Patel has an undergraduate degree from Stern and was on her way back to B-School when she realized she wanted to continue with her Passion for Fashion. <\/p>\n

Wearing a Chanel dress, Roopal offered us a glimpse into her elegant and sophisticated world with the self confidence that indicated why she holds the executive position she does.<\/p>\n

Tips for women who want a job similar to hers<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Start at the bottom. Roopal started as an assistant at Bergdorf.<\/li>\n
  2. Make sure you know the history of fashion and the history of fashion houses. She is surprised to see the lack of knowledge and research girls have about fashion when they come in for interviews.<\/li>\n
  3. Dress appropriately no matter what position you are in.<\/li>\n
  4. Roopal suggests getting a Business or Marketing degree in order to get into Fashion Marketing, not necessarily a degree from a fashion school.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
