“I talk with a melody and I walk with beats.” That’s Lydia Paek’s motto. You might recognize Lydia as the only girl in the super talented Quest Dance Crew. But Lydia isn’t only a dancer, she’s a great singer with an amazing, distinct voice. Lydia is of Korean descent and began dancing at an early age, becoming one of the few recognized Asian female dancers on the scene right now. Many people have inquired about Lydia but we couldn’t find much information on her so we just had to interview her. Read more on Lydia and where she is going in career below.

ASIANCE: When did you start dance? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> I started dancing when I was 14.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: What are you trained (dance) in? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> I’m trained in breaking and hip hop (choreography) also a little bit in modern and African.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: How did you hook up with Quest? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> Some of the members thought I had potential and they were also my good friends. (I was like their lil sister in a way) I’m so glad that they took me in to train and be a part
\nof Quest.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: What are you doing for ABDC? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> I was going to do it with Quest but unfortunately there can be only a certain amount of people to try out. So I’m going to try out with Boxcuttuhs.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: Who would you love to dance with? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> Not anyone in particular, although I have a lot of people I look up to. I would like to dance with people that share the same love for dance as I do.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: What is your training schedule like? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> Saturdays and Fridays – Boxcuttuhs, Mondays -Session with friends, Tues and Wed -Quest<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: Where did you grow up? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> I was born in LA, then moved to Downey at like 2 and lived there for 10 years. Then moved to Cypress.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: Do you still have immediate family in Korea? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> Yes I do. I have some cousins. Unfortunately, my Auntie and my Uncle both passed away a month ago as missionaries in the Philippines. My prayers are with my cousins and I know that they are in a good place. They were good people and pastors of a big church in Korea; Park Su-jin (52), the senior pastor at the “Dreaming Church” in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, and his wife and Neah’s aunt Han Yeon-oh (52)<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: Are you dating anyone from Quest? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> hahahahahaha! No I am not!<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: Did you ever date anyone from Quest? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> ahahha no. I have never dated anyone from Quest. They are all older brothers to me. In a way, I’m like a little brother to them.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: What is it like to be in an all guy dance group and be the only girl? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> It’s fun. I act like a fool, dorky. I’m most definitely comfortable around them. They take care of me and I’ve known them since I was 15. So we are all family. I mostly have a lot of guy friends anyways.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: Do you wish there was another female? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> No, not really. I don’t really care. But I wouldn’t mind. I like it the way it is and we are all close friends.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: Do you have a boyfriend? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> No but I’m currently talking to someone if that counts ahaha.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: What advice would you give to other girls who want to dance like you and be in a dance crew? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> Put your full potential into it because nothing’s impossible. Work hard and put your emotions and heart into dancing and everything you love to do in life. Never give up of course. Never be afraid to ask for help in dancing and to try new things. You never know what you’re capable of and never limit yourself.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: Who are your favorite dancers? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> bgirl, Shie Chan, Namuri, Beta etc., bboys. There are too many to name. Choreographers – Jun Quemado, Lando Wilkins, Jed Florano, Gigi Torres, Knicole, Jeff Viray, Kristine Bueta, Alexis, Gina Lu, many more.<\/p>\n

ASIANCE: Who are your favorite teams on ABDC? <\/h3>\n

Lydia:<\/b> Kaba Modern, Jabbawokkie, Supreme Soul. As a matter a fact, they are my friends! ahah and I am very much proud of them!<\/p>\n
